Buy real Absinthe
You can easily and conveniently buy real absinthe from ALANDIA's online shop. While you might find a bottle of absinthe in a large, well-stocked supermarket in a pinch, they often only carry absinthe of inferior quality. A supermarket isn't a specialty store; it's about volume, so you get quantity instead of quality. But if you're looking for an original, real absinthe, then you should buy your absinthe online from ALANDIA.
What does "real absinthe" actually mean?
First and foremost, it means that the absinthe is distilled. This means it's not a cheap oil mix or a simple macerate. Furthermore, it should be naturally colored green with herbs, meaning it shouldn't contain artificial colorings. By the way, artificial coloring must be indicated on the label. So, you can quickly identify such an artificial absinthe by looking at the label. These are the objective quality criteria. One could also say that they are the prerequisites for a real, original absinthe.
Can I buy good absinthe in supermarkets like ALDI, Lidl, Rewe, or EDEKA?
The quality described in the paragraph above naturally comes at a price. If you see an absinthe at a very cheap price (under 20 Euros), you can be sure that it is not a genuine absinthe. For example, ALDI once sold an absinthe bottled in a skull for €9.69. This ALDI absinthe was an artificially colored oil mix. This means that real herbs are not used in the production of such an absinthe. Neutral alcohol is merely mixed with essential oils, and this mixture is then colored green with dye. This has nothing to do with a genuine absinthe...
You can also find absinthe at Lidl. They sell Jekyll and Absinth 77 by Mystical Spirit. Both absinthes are very cheap (under 16 Euros), because they are also oil blends that are artificially colored green with dye. This is far from a true absinthe, as it was produced and drunk in the 19th century. REWE and EDEKA offer the brand Absinth 66 for purchase. This absinthe is already considerably better than the ALDI and Lidl brands. However, Abtshof 66 is not a distillate, but a simple macerate oil blend. Furthermore, it contains coloring, which means its green color is unfortunately also artificial. ALDI, Lidl, REWE, and EDEKA are therefore definitely not shops where you can buy a bottle of real absinthe.
You can find a high-quality selection of genuine Green Fairy in our online shop. ALANDIA is also much more than just an absinthe shop. Under the ALANDIA Spirits brand, we produce our own absinthes according to traditional recipes. For example, the brands Strong68, Maison ALANDIA, Heritage Verte, Moulin Vert, ALANDIA Verte, or République Vintage. Some of the absinthes have already been awarded medals at international spirits competitions (ISW 2023 Gold and Silver, ISW 2025, Concours de Lyon 2025 and 2026, Craft Spirits Berlin 2026).
In addition, our online store offers a wide selection of high-quality accessories, such as absinthe spoons, absinthe glasses, or absinthe fountains. Many of these are also manufactured by us; the accessories are sold under the ALANDIA Barware brand. We believe that absinthe is more than just a high-proof spirit. It is a unique way to embark on a journey back to the 19th century. In this sense, we perceive absinthe as "culture" and aim to enable our customers to experience this journey through the most authentic product range possible.

Absinthe: How should I drink it?
Finally, in the following video, we would like to show you the classic French Absinthe preparation. This involves a glass, spoon, sugar, and cold water. We recommend this classic Absinthe drinking ritual to our customers. Contrary to popular belief, Absinthe should not be lit on fire. It is dangerous and destroys the taste of the spirit. Furthermore, it is not a historically transmitted drinking ritual. It is merely a marketing gimmick that harms the image of the drink. Because the fire preparation suggests that Absinthe is a dangerous drink. This is not the case. Absinthe is not poisonous and, when consumed responsibly, is a real pleasure. Not only in terms of taste but also in terms of experiencing drinking culture. We wish you a lot of fun on this unique journey through time.
