This Absinthe is our bestseller: Like the name suggests, Strong68 is a quite powerful Absinthe with 68% alcohol by vol. (136 proof). The recipe is based primarily on grand wormwood (artemisia absinthium). Other traditional herbs like anise and fennel are used to give this Absinthe a pleasantly fresh body. Nevertheless, the wormwood in the recipe gives Strong68 a slightly bitter taste. Therefore, we recommend preparing your glass of Absinthe according to the classic French Absinthe ritual with ice-cold water and 1-2 sugar cubes (more info about the ritual can be found below).

Strong68 is as well perfectly suitable for Absintheurs who are looking for a classic manufacturing process. The Absinthe is a distilled spirit (instead of being an oil mix or macerate) and is naturally colored using herbs and no coloring. The wormwood is locally cultivated on the fields of the distillery in France, which guarantees premium quality. The alcoholic strength is also set to the classic level of 68% by volume. Only at that level, the plant-based amber-green color of the spirit is preserved. Overall, this Absinthe is like in the old days. If you are looking for the real thing, Absinthe Strong68 is your choice. We are also proud to announce that Strong68 Absinthe is also the gold medal winner at the Concours de Lyon 2026, silver medal winner at the Craft Spirits Awards CSB 2026 and silver medal winner of the International Spirits Award ISW 2025!

How to drink Strong68 Absinthe

You should drink Strong68 according to the classic French Absinthe ritual. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this traditional ritual. This is how it works: First, you fill some Absinthe into the glass (approx. 1 oz). Then you place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. You can use a water carafe or - even more professional - an Absinthe fountain for that. We recommend a ratio of one part Absinthe to three parts water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with sugared water and magically clouds from amber-green to an opalescent white color. This is called the "louche". Finally, stir the Absinthe with a spoon. Your glass of Absinthe is prepared!

A final note: We do not recommend burning the sugar cube, this is sometimes promoted. But this is (1) dangerous as Absinthe is 136 proof, (2.) not historically authentic and (3.) destroys the aroma of the fine spirit. Drink Absinthe the traditional way, like we described above. This is simply the best and most authentic way.

Strong68 is traditionally distilled in France, using classic herbs such as wormwood, anise, and fennel. Its green-amber color comes exclusively from the distillate. From dye herbs, not from dyes.

Strong68 has an alcohol content of 68% vol. That is very high — therefore it is recommended to enjoy it with water and possibly sugar, in a ratio of approximately 1 part Absinthe to 3 parts water, to balance the taste and bring out the full aroma.

Yes, the wormwood imparts a slight bitterness, but it's pleasantly integrated. The flavor is robust, tart, and spicy, with fresh herbal notes. Those sensitive to bitterness should drink Strong68 with more water or sugar.

No. The color comes exclusively from natural dyeing herbs; no artificial dyes are used.

For experienced Absinthe connoisseurs seeking a classic, intense Absinthe. Newcomers or those sensitive to high alcohol or bitterness should consume it sparingly or try milder varieties first (for example ALANDIA Verte).

Frequently Asked Questions General

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit whose characteristic taste is primarily derived from wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and became widely known in the 19th century.

Absinthe is traditionally diluted with ice-cold water, which is slowly dripped into the glass – often over a sugar cube. This preparation allows the aromas to unfold and creates the typical "louche" effect, where the spirit becomes milky and cloudy.

The high alcohol content serves as a carrier for the subtle herbal aromas and preserves them. Absinthe is therefore not intended for pure consumption, but is traditionally drunk diluted with water.

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit, whose characteristic taste is mainly due to wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and gained widespread recognition in the 19th century.

For the classic preparation, an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon for the sugar cube, and a carafe or fountain with ice-cold water are used. These tools allow for slow dilution and ensure a balanced taste experience.
