The Absinthe Dripper Balancier made by ALANDIA Barware is a reproduction of the historical Absinthe Brouilleur Auto Verseurs formerly made for the Absinthe brand Oxygénée Cusenier. Its design is inspired by the original, but the functionality was improved. The Brouilleur is made of oxidized stainless steel. This gives it a robust quality and a mystical black look. The inside of the cup is untreated, which means that you have a silver contrast and see the material in its original color. The little see-saw lever is made of stainless steel, as well, therefore your Balancier will never rust.

The ritual with this unique Absinthe accessory works like this: Pour a dose of Absinthe into an Absinthe glass (about 1 oz / 30 ml). Then place the balancier on the rim of the glass. Add ice and water to the inside of the reservoir. Once the water begins to flow through the small hole at the bottom of the reservoir, it will stream onto the lever. In a see-saw motion, the water now falls into the glass of Absinthe with a tik-tok sound. Remove the balancier and enjoy your glass of Absinthe!

All Absinthes should be prepared to personal taste. We recommend a ratio of 1:3 Absinthe to water. If you wish, you can also place an Absinthe spoon with a sugar cube under the lever of the balancier.

Absinthe Dripper Balancier: The best louche

The secret of a good louche is firstly a quality Absinthe with lots of essential oils, plus ice-cold water, and a slow speed of adding water to the Absinthe.  Fountains, brouilleurs and Absinthe drippers like the Balancier help to create a perfect louche, as with the help of these accessories Absinthe and water mix slowly.

INFO: If the see-saw no longer runs smoothly and the water flow stops, put some oil, e.g. olive oil, on the axis of the rocker. This will reduce the friction and the see-saw will run smoothly again.

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Product

The dripper balancer is used for the traditional preparation of absinthe. It allows for the even, drop-by-drop addition of water into the absinthe glass.

The dripper is placed directly on the glass and filled with water. The water flows slowly into the absinthe via the rocker mechanism, ensuring controlled dilution accompanied by a ticking sound.

The dripper allows for particularly impressive water dosage. The regulated water flow via the rocker creates a consistent and therefore intense louche effect.

Yes, the dripper can be easily cleaned with warm water. Gentle hand washing is recommended for a long lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions
general

For the traditional ritual, three basics are usually sufficient: an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, and ice-cold water (e.g., from a carafe). Sugar cubes are optional. Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.

Carafe: simple, flexible, ideal for beginners Brouilleur: controlled drip directly onto the glass, very classic Fountain: perfect for quiet, even dripping and when several glasses are to be prepared one after another (or simultaneously) – often the "ritual upgrade."

For glasses: clean gently, especially with delicate shapes or decorations – ideally with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Spoons (depending on material/finish) should be stored dry to maintain their surface and shine. For delicate or coated items, hand washing is usually the safest option.
