Absinthe Blanchette is a crystal-clear Absinthe of the Combier Absinthe product portfolio. Produced by the Distillerie Combier between 1899 and 1915, and again in the same stills since 2006, Blanchette is an authentic white Absinthe with a "Swiss" style with a dominant aniseed taste. With a nose full of freshness where green anise is first noticed, Blanchette is herbaceous and very perfumed with a delicate fruity, vegetal note brought by anise, fennel and grand wormwood. It is consumed with fresh water, without sugar, because it is not bitter. Its milky and frosty cloudiness brings a silky sensation in mouth.

The traditional way of serving Absinthe

This is how you prepare Absinthe the traditional French way. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this ritual. This is how it works: You place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Santé, your sugared Absinthe is prepared!

Blanchette is a classic Blanche absinthe, meaning a clear absinthe without additional herbal coloring, traditionally produced according to a French recipe.

Blanchette is fresh, rather delicate, and not overly bitter. The clarity of the distillate ensures that the herbal aromas are precisely and cleanly perceptible – without any vegetative or grassy notes.

Blanchette deliberately follows the classic Blanche style, in which no second herbal infusion is used for coloring. This allows the distillate itself to take center stage.

Compared to green varieties like Suisse Verte or Grön Opal, Blanchette has a clearer, more direct and more sober aroma profile – ideal for those who want less herbal coloring and more fragrance sharpness.

Blanchette is aimed at connoisseurs who
• appreciate clear, precise herbal aromas,
• search for a purist absinthe without dyes,
• and do not want the classic green intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions General

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit whose characteristic taste is primarily derived from wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and became widely known in the 19th century.

Absinthe is traditionally diluted with ice-cold water, which is slowly dripped into the glass – often over a sugar cube. This preparation allows the aromas to unfold and creates the typical "louche" effect, where the spirit becomes milky and cloudy.

The high alcohol content serves as a carrier for the subtle herbal aromas and preserves them. Absinthe is therefore not intended for pure consumption, but is traditionally drunk diluted with water.

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit, whose characteristic taste is mainly due to wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and gained widespread recognition in the 19th century.

For the classic preparation, an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon for the sugar cube, and a carafe or fountain with ice-cold water are used. These tools allow for slow dilution and ensure a balanced taste experience.
