This Absinthe glass is something special, as it has a bubble-shaped reservoir in the stem. It is filled with the Green Fairy, then, water is added. The Absinthe begins to mix with the water and louches in the bubble in swirls. The effect is really magical! Bubble glasses already existed in the Belle Époque era, the ALANDIA glass is inspired by these vintage originals. The glass itself is made out of high-quality, hand-blown borosilicate glass. It is dishwasher-safe, but we recommend washing it by hand.

The Absinthe Bubble Glass drinking ritual

First, you have to fill the bubble with Absinthe. Then slowly add ice-cold water. Watch how the Absinthe in the bubble magically louches in white clouds. Depending on your preference, you can add a sugar cube and perform the drinking ritual with a Brouilleur as seen in the video (the best preparation). Bubble glasses were made in the late 19th century (1880-1890). But they were never widely popular, and seem to have been discontinued by the early 1900s. Why? Maybe because of the difficulty in cleaning the bubble, especially when you prepare your Absinthe with sugar. Nowadays, with water pressure from the tap it is easy, but back in the days things looked different...

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Product

The Bubble Glass is a modern absinthe glass whose characteristic bulbous shape is reminiscent of a bubble. It combines classic absinthe functionality with a contemporary design.

The bulbous shape enhances the aroma formation and development of the absinthe. When water is added, the fragrance collects in the glass and is perceived more intensely. The bubble, on the other hand, orchestrates the louche of the absinthe.

Yes, the bubble. It's completely filled with absinthe. Then you slowly add water and observe the spectacle inside the bubble.

Compared to the Pontarlier glass, the Bubble glass appears more modern and softer in shape. The major difference, however, lies in the bubble and its associated functionality for creating the perfectly staged louche effect.

The Bubble Glass is suitable for absinthe lovers who value an impressive, modern presentation and want to enjoy absinthe in a classic way, without being strictly bound to historical glass shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
general

For the traditional ritual, three basics are usually sufficient: an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, and ice-cold water (e.g., from a carafe). Sugar cubes are optional. Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.

Carafe: simple, flexible, ideal for beginners Brouilleur: controlled drip directly onto the glass, very classic Fountain: perfect for quiet, even dripping and when several glasses are to be prepared one after another (or simultaneously) – often the "ritual upgrade."

For glasses: clean gently, especially with delicate shapes or decorations – ideally with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Spoons (depending on material/finish) should be stored dry to maintain their surface and shine. For delicate or coated items, hand washing is usually the safest option.
