The Kiss of Death Absinthe Set is not to be trifled with. This premium bundle includes a bottle of Strong68 Absinthe, a bottle of Wormwood Bitters, four Skull Absinthe glasses, four stainless steel "Gothic" absinthe spoons, an ALANDIA water carafe, and a bag of individually wrapped absinthe sugar cubes.
Absinthe Strong68, as the name suggests, is a particularly strong absinthe. This means it has a high alcohol content of 68% and is distilled with a generous amount of wormwood. Its flavor is classic, meaning it tastes of herbs, primarily anise, fennel, and wormwood. It is distilled in France using traditional methods. Its green color comes exclusively from natural herbs (no artificial coloring). The wormwood content contributes a slightly bitter, pleasantly robust flavor.
Traditional preparation of Absinthe
Absinthe is traditionally drunk with water and sugar. We recommend a ratio of one part absinthe to two parts water. The water should ideally be poured slowly over the absinthe spoon, which contains a sugar cube. This ensures the sugar dissolves particularly well. Ideally, use an absinthe fountain or an absinthe water carafe. The latter is included in your premium bundle. Its small, thoughtful details ensure exceptional functionality. For example, the carafe has a sufficiently wide neck to easily add ice cubes. Ice-cold water is essential for the absinthe ritual, as it creates a particularly dense louche. Louche is the clouding effect of the absinthe when water is added. This is an important functional feature, but not every water carafe offers this. Furthermore, the carafe has a small spout. This allows for a slow, controlled, and, above all, fine stream of water. With other water carafes, the problem often arises that the water tends to spill out, which is not conducive to the absinthe ritual.
The Kiss of Death Recipe
You can further intensify the iconic wormwood flavor of absinthe with the Wormwood Bitters included in the set . It's a tincture made from distilled and macerated wormwood, along with wormwood oil. You'll need the bitters to prepare the Kiss of Death. Here's how to make it: Prepare the absinthe as usual with ice-cold water from your water carafe and a sugar cube. We recommend a ratio of one part absinthe to two parts water. Then, enhance the absinthe with two dashes of the bitters. To do this, completely fill the glass pipette with the bitters twice. This wormwood boost gives the drink its characteristic note. This also explains the name of the set, Kiss of Death: a bittersweet moment of seduction with a dangerous ending.
