The skull Absinthe set is a real eye-catcher in terms of design. It contains a bottle of Hamlet Classic Absinthe, four "skull" absinthe glasses (skull = English for skull), four stainless steel "Gothic" absinthe spoons, a water carafe, and a bag of absinthe sugar cubes.
The recipe for Hamlet Classic Verte is based on the classic absinthe herbs wormwood, anise, and fennel. Despite its high alcohol content of 69%, the absinthe has a pleasantly mild taste. A subtle sweetness is noticeable in the finish, indicating the use of cinnamon and vanilla in the recipe. Overall, Hamlet Classic is a strong absinthe, but its refined recipe makes it appealing to both beginners and experienced absinthe connoisseurs.
When ice-cold water is added, Hamlet Classic Green, as is typical for a classic absinthe, turns a beautiful milky white. In technical terms, this is called "louche." The green color of absinthe, by the way, comes from the plant pigment chlorophyll.
TIP: After use, the skull bottle can also be reused (upcycled). For example, it's suitable as an unusual oil or vinegar dispenser or a spooky flower vase.
Absinthe Set with Skull Glasses and classic Accessories
The skull-shaped glasses included in the set are a perfect visual match for Hamlet Absinthe. They hold 80 ml, just the right amount for a strong absinthe. The stainless steel absinthe spoons also complement the set beautifully, featuring a Gothic-style trident design. This design, by the way, is not a new invention. These spoons, known as "absinthe crickets," were already in use in the 19th century.
The right sugar is essential for preparing absinthe, which is why the set also includes a bag of ALANDIA sugar cubes. Compared to regular sugar cubes, they have a lower density and are flatter. This allows them to dissolve particularly well when moistened with water, thus perfecting the absinthe ritual. A useful and beautiful accessory for your Heure Verte, which should definitely be part of the traditional preparation of your absinthe!
The set is completed by the ALANDIA water carafe. Its thoughtful details ensure exceptional functionality. For example, the carafe has a sufficiently wide neck to easily add ice cubes. Furthermore, it features a small spout that allows for a slow, controlled, and, most importantly, fine stream of water. This is essential for dissolving the sugar cube in a controlled manner. With other water carafes, the water often tends to splash out, which is not conducive to the absinthe ritual.
In conclusion: This absinthe set combines classic and modern elements. Its cool design also makes it a great gift!
How to drink absinthe correctly
To prepare, first pour some absinthe into the glass and place a spoon with a sugar cube on top. Then pour water over the sugar cube into the absinthe-filled skull glass. Do this as slowly as possible so the sugar dissolves completely (ideally, use our ALANDIA water carafe or an Absinthe fountain). The absinthe will begin to cloud and is ready when the skull glass is filled to the brim. We recommend an approximate mixing ratio of one part absinthe to two parts water. Have fun preparing it and drink responsibly; Hamlet Absinthe is strong!
