Absinthe Désirée is an Absinthe from the "Les Parisiennes" series. This absinthe collection is based on historical originals in terms of its recipe and bottle design. Désirée is based on a handwritten recipe from a book by Edouard Pernod. As in the 19th century, an aromatic wine alcohol is used as the base for the distillation of the herbs. After distillation and coloring with natural herbs (no artificial coloring!), this absinthe is stored in an oak barrel for further maturation. This process gives the absinthe its further complexity.

When ice-cold water is added, Désirée becomes particularly cloudy. This strong clouding already signals to the connoisseur before the first sip that he can expect a very strong absinthe. Taking the first sip, one is literally enveloped by the aromas; this absinthe is so intensely flavorful. Nuances of fresh anise notes come to the fore first, followed by the woody notes of the barrel aging. The finish is formed by the spicy-intense and, above all, long-lasting aromas of grand wormwood (artemisia absinthium). All in all, La Désirée is a particularly potent version of the Green Fairy. We recommend it to absintheurs who have already gained some experience with the Green Fairy.

How La Désirée Absinthe should be drunk

La Désirée is an extremely intense absinthe. Therefore, you can prepare the absinthe with enough water. We recommend a mixing ratio of one part absinthe to 3-4 parts water. The preparation should follow the classic French absinthe ritual. That is, with an Absinthe spoon, topped with a sugar cube. The sugar's sweetness enhances the absinthe's woody notes and aroma. Slightly sweetened, La Désirée almost resembles a "spirited" praline. Very delicious!

Frequently Asked Questions General

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit whose characteristic taste is primarily derived from wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and became widely known in the 19th century.

Absinthe is traditionally diluted with ice-cold water, which is slowly dripped into the glass – often over a sugar cube. This preparation allows the aromas to unfold and creates the typical "louche" effect, where the spirit becomes milky and cloudy.

The high alcohol content serves as a carrier for the subtle herbal aromas and preserves them. Absinthe is therefore not intended for pure consumption, but is traditionally drunk diluted with water.

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit, whose characteristic taste is mainly due to wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and gained widespread recognition in the 19th century.

For the classic preparation, an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon for the sugar cube, and a carafe or fountain with ice-cold water are used. These tools allow for slow dilution and ensure a balanced taste experience.
