Absinthe Maison ALANDIA is distilled from 16 different herbs, including Artemisia absinthium, anise, Veronica, Angelica, Pontica, fennel, and coriander seeds. In addition to the complexity of the herbal composition, a strong focus is placed on the distillation process. As in days gone by, the still is fired with wood, and each distillation run, which is reduced to 30 liters, takes a full 10 hours. This ensures that the essential oils and flavor compounds of the herbs are extracted particularly well.
Maison ALANDIA Absinthe distinguishes itself from simpler absinthes through its particularly aromatic flavor. This flavor profile is quite complex: while anise is used in the Maison ALANDIA recipe, the taste is by no means "licorice-like." Rather, one experiences a symphony of herbs, beginning with the sweetness of fennel, followed by the bitter note of wormwood, and concluding with a slightly nutty-chocolatey note from the coriander seeds. The turbidity is exceptionally dense, and with the slow addition of water, one can beautifully observe how the louche rising in the glass gradually engulfs the clear green layer of the absinthe. The first sip reveals immediately that this absinthe is something truly special: a historical dedication.
The finest Absinthe with elegant Accessories
The set also includes four mouth-blown "Pontarlier" absinthe glasses. They feature a reservoir in the base for measuring the correct amount of absinthe. Because the glasses are handmade, they have a seamless surface without unsightly seams. Furthermore, the glasses are cut, giving them a beautiful, historical look. The included absinthe spoons are an authentic reproduction of the historical "Feuilles" absinthe spoon. They are made of stainless steel and shaped like an intertwined wormwood leaf.
Of course, the absinthe water carafe included in the deluxe set deserves a mention. With its small, thoughtful details, it offers exceptional functionality. For example, the carafe has a sufficiently wide neck to easily add ice cubes. Ice-cold water is essential for the absinthe ritual, as it creates a particularly dense louche. Louche is the clouding effect of the absinthe when water is added. This is an important functional feature, but not every water carafe offers it. Furthermore, the ALANDIA carafe has a small spout. This allows for a slow, controlled, and, above all, fine stream of water. This is important for dissolving the sugar cube in a controlled manner. With other water carafes, the water often tends to splash out, which is not conducive to the absinthe ritual.
A bag of absinthe sugar cubes completes this elegant set. Our individually wrapped ALANDIA sugar cubes are less compressed and slightly flatter than regular sugar cubes. This allows them to dissolve particularly well when moistened with water, perfecting the drinking ritual.
