The Feuilles spoon is our favorite Absinthe spoon design, therefore we decided to reproduce the vintage original from the Belle Époque era. The decorated Feuilles Absinthe spoon made by ALANDIA Barware was born. With its beautiful design in the shape of wormwood leaves (Feuilles = French for leaves) it perfectly represents the style and culture of the world of Absinthe. Besides that, it has a very good functionality and quality. It is made of durable stainless steel, which gives the spoon a decent weight of 15 gr / 0.17 oz. The spoon fits perfectly on an Absinthe glass, as there is an angle in the handle, that gives stability. Also, the sides of the spoon show some higher parts to prevent the sugar cube from falling off the spoon. Did we already say that we love this spoon?

How to prepare Absinthe with an Absinthe spoon

In the following video, you can see how you serve Absinthe the traditional French way. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this ritual. This is how it works: You place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Santé, your sugared Absinthe is prepared!

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Product

The Feuilles absinthe spoon is a classic absinthe spoon whose design is inspired by leaves ("feuilles"). It is used in the traditional preparation of absinthe to place sugar over the glass.

The spoon is placed across the absinthe glass so that a sugar cube can be placed on it. As water is slowly poured over it, the sugar dissolves evenly and sweetens the absinthe in a controlled manner.

The leaf motif is not only decorative but also functional. The cutouts in the design allow the water to flow evenly through the sugar, dissolving it slowly. Like all our spoons, this one is an authentic reproduction of a historical original.

Yes. Spoons with floral or plant motifs were widespread during the classic absinthe era. The Feuilles spoon takes up this tradition and combines it with a timeless design.

Frequently Asked Questions
general

For the traditional ritual, three basics are usually sufficient: an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, and ice-cold water (e.g., from a carafe). Sugar cubes are optional. Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.

Carafe: simple, flexible, ideal for beginners Brouilleur: controlled drip directly onto the glass, very classic Fountain: perfect for quiet, even dripping and when several glasses are to be prepared one after another (or simultaneously) – often the "ritual upgrade."

For glasses: clean gently, especially with delicate shapes or decorations – ideally with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Spoons (depending on material/finish) should be stored dry to maintain their surface and shine. For delicate or coated items, hand washing is usually the safest option.
