If you are looking for a nicely priced Absinthe spoon with a premium quality, this ALANDIA Barware spoon is your choice. The Classic spoon has the same design as vintage originals from the 19th century. It is made of durable stainless steel, therefore it is as well dishwasher safe. The material gives the spoon a decent weight, resulting in a high-quality haptic impression. The sides of the Absinthe spoon are slightly bent, therefore the sugar cube stays stable on the spoon, even if you pour water over it. The backside of the handle is discretely engraved with the ALANDIA crest. This looks nice and gives you some grip as well. Every spoon is furthermore nicely packed in a paper envelope. We highly recommend this spoon to any Absintheur!

Drinking Absinthe with a spoon

In the following video, you can see how you serve Absinthe the traditional French way. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this ritual. This is how it works: You place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Santé, your sugared Absinthe is prepared!

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Product

The Absinthe Spoon Classic is based on the simple, timeless design most commonly used during the classic absinthe era. It deliberately omits ornaments or motifs.

The spoon serves as a stable base for a sugar cube, which dissolves evenly as water is slowly poured in. This allows for controlled sweetening without overpowering the absinthe.

Unlike patterned or elaborately designed spoons, the focus of the classic spoon is solely on functionality. It appears neutral and understated, blending seamlessly into any culinary preparation.

The Absinthe Spoon Classic fits all common absinthe glasses, especially Pontarlier, Reservoir and simple absinthe glasses, as its shape is universally designed.

This spoon is aimed at purists and classic absinthe drinkers who value an authentic, unobtrusive preparation and prefer accessories that are subservient to the drink.

Frequently Asked Questions
general

For the traditional ritual, three basics are usually sufficient: an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, and ice-cold water (e.g., from a carafe). Sugar cubes are optional. Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.

Carafe: simple, flexible, ideal for beginners Brouilleur: controlled drip directly onto the glass, very classic Fountain: perfect for quiet, even dripping and when several glasses are to be prepared one after another (or simultaneously) – often the "ritual upgrade."

For glasses: clean gently, especially with delicate shapes or decorations – ideally with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Spoons (depending on material/finish) should be stored dry to maintain their surface and shine. For delicate or coated items, hand washing is usually the safest option.
